• Appoint executors of your choice, often family members or close friends. They will distribute your estate according to your will.
  • Appoint a guardian if you have children under 18. Guardians are also often family members or close friends.
  • Specific gifts: perhaps you’d like to leave your jewellery to your daughter or a gift of cash to a grandchild.
  • The residue is everything left after the payment of debts / funeral expenses etc.
  • It’s your decision who will benefit.
  • You can also decide at what age you want them to inherit (normally 18, 21 or 25).
